Heighway still confident

Liverpool lost the first leg of the FA Youth Cup final 2-1 at Anfield last night but Steve Heighway still believes his side can turn it round at Old Trafford a week on Thursday.

"Obviously we don't want to be behind, but psychologically I don't think we're in such a bad position. There's no away goals or anything like that, so one goal and we're all square," said the Academy Director.

"Maybe it'll be difficult for United next week knowing how to play with a goal lead. Last year we went to Man City with a three-goal lead and we were jittery.

"We feel a bit unfortunate to have lost the game - we're looking back and wondering how we lost the game. But we'll be back at them next week, and I think we would have had to score in the second leg to win whatever happened.

"They're a great bunch of kids and I haven't lost faith in them yet, don't worry about that."
