Henry down plays title challenge

Kenny Dalglish's team have got off to a good start this season, with Saturday's 3-1 win over Bolton making it two victories from their first three games.

Having heavily invested in the squad during the last two transfer windows Liverpool are starting to see the fruits of their labour and have been tipped in some quarters to challenge for the Premier League.

However, Henry says the team aren't quite at the level of Manchester United, Manchester City or Chelsea, saying it will be a few more years before the Reds can be considered serious title contenders.

"Manchester United has done an incredible job of building a young, talented, deep squad," he told the Liverpool Echo. "I watched a number of their pre-season matches and they seemed in top form even then.

"We've just begun to build and are years behind them so we don't expect this to be our year to win the Premier League.

"Manchester City seem to have unlimited spending restraint and want all-star quality at each position. That will be hard to beat. This year our goal is to get back to the Champions League."
