Hero Reds progress

Liverpool earned themselves a Champions League semi-final date with Chelsea after earning a brilliant 0-0 draw in Turin to progress 2-1 on aggregate.

Liverpool were missing the influential Steven Gerrard and Dietmar Hamann but were boosted by the return of Xabi Alonso who gave a masterful display in the centre.

The Mighty Reds gave an impressive defensive display to protect their first leg lead with Jerzy Dudek, restored to the first team ahead of Scott Carson, saving superbly from Emerson to keep a clean sheet.

It wasn't all back to the walls stuff however; Milan Baros almost gave Liverpool the lead after running onto an Alonso through ball and narrowly shooting wide. Igor Biscan put a header over the bar with seven minutes remaining, but in the end it was the defence who ensured the Reds progressed to their first European Cup semi-final in twenty years.

The travelling Reds had further cause to cheer when Djibril Cisse made his first appearance in a Liverpool shirt since breaking his leg back in October, coming on as a second half sub for Milan Baros.
