Heskey a doubt for England

The big Liverpool striker, influential in Engalands second half fight-back in Slovakia, is struggling to overcome a groin injury and will undergo a fitness test before manager Sven Goran Eriksson names the side for the game at Southampton.

"It looks as though it might be a problem," said England’s goalkeeping coach Ray Clemence.

"We will look at it this morning."

Should Heskey fail this morning's fitness test then his place alongside Michael Owen in the England attack would more than likely be taken by Leeds United's Alan Smith.
