Heskey: Anelka is a great player

Liverpool striker Emile Heskey says Nicolas Anelka is a great player and one that all the lads got on well with while he was at the club.

Anelka was dumped by Gerard Houllier at the end of his loan move in favour of El-Hadji Diouf. Naturally the media will be looking to put some spin on the matter in tomorrow's papers but Heskey says nobody had a problem with the former Arsenal striker.

"Nico is a great player, but we've got one of the best defences around so hopefully they'll stop him," said Heskey, who faces a late fitness test on a groin injury.

"Personally, I got on really well with Nico. I think everyone here got on well with him and it will be nice for all the lads see him again. But the main thing for us tomorrow isn't facing Nico, it's getting the right result for Liverpool."
