Heskey hits back at critics

Despite spending more time on the ground recovering from innocuous challenges to his burly frame than he ever did celebrating a rare goal, Heskey vehemently denies that he failed to deliver for the Reds before making a sumer switch to Birmingham City.

Heskey said: One thing that did get to me was an article in a paper saying I'd flopped at Liverpool. I went there to win trophies and I won five. The only thing I missed out on were the Premiership and the Champions League.

"I was switched around a lot, but I don't necessarily blame the manager for that. Sometimes you have to play in different positions for the team. It's been kind of an easy option because I'm able to play there and I've been willing to play there."
