Heskey suffered a hamstring strain in the Worthington Cup victory over Manchester United which forced him out of the Reds Premiership meeting with Bolton.

It was initially thought that that the 25-year-old would miss out on a reunion with his former manager Martin O'Neill but a recent improvement in training means that Heskey could partner Michael Owen at Celtic Park.

Liverpool manager Gerard Houllier revealed that the England forward "has a chance" of making the game.
