The Liverpool striker, who claimed his fourth League Cup medal in Sunday's 2-0 victory over Manchester United, feels that the Reds now have the confidence to overcome the six point gap that separates Liverpool and fourth placed Everton.

Heskey said: We believe we can win every game from now on, it has to be one game at a time, but the Champions League is still possible,'' he said. ``It will be a tough job but we all believe we can still do it.

"The season hasn't gone as well as we planned, but we believe we can pick up points in every game to turn things around.

"I'm pleased for the manager. He has taken a lot of stick but the lads showed that we are going to play for him.

"He brought a lot of the lads here and has stuck by us so we have got to start repaying him.''

He added:"You are always playing for your future, always, but we got what we deserved in the final because we all stuck together and worked for the victory.

"We wanted it, it was against United, and you don't want to be going back home for five hours on the coach feeling miserable because you've lost to them.

"We needed one big result in one big game to give us the confidence to go for it until the end of the season and that's what we aim to do.

"We got the result we deserved and everyone hopes we can just continue to build now.

"It's all about confidence and there are players here who are really trying to get everyone going, to pick people up and we are slowly getting there
