Heskey set to make way for Rooney

Michael Owen will wear the captain's armband in his 50th game for his country and Sven Goran Eriksson is expected to choose the Everton player to partner him in attack.

"We talked about playing Rooney with Owen at Leicester, but I thought it was more important to keep them both fit for this Wednesday," said the England coach yesterday. "That was my opinion last Tuesday and it is still my opinion now."
