Heskey unmoved by criticism

Heskey, who has scored in Liverpool's last two Premiership games, has come under heavy criticism after a series of languid displays this season, believes it is unfair that he should be solely judged on his goal ratio.

He said: The manager has been brilliant for me. His support has been very important and the players have always backed me. The criticism has been harsh. I am a striker but a lot of the time I have been playing on the left wing, being a provider more than a scorer.

"Of course strikers are judged on goals and I want to get more than I do but I ignore the criticism. It's just people trying to sell papers. Liverpool fans I meet in the street tell me, 'Don't listen to what people say'. I also get letters supporting me and that helps."
