Hicks can prevent Gillett sale

Should Gillett wish to sell his half of the club he is contractually obliged to offer it to Tom Hicks first. However, because of the global credit crunch Hicks is unable to afford his co-chairman's half of Liverpool FC.

With rumours linking DIC with a move for Gillett's 50% Hicks has now claimed he can stop Gillett selling his share of the club.

"Not only am I not going to sell, my partner cannot sell without my approval. So I kind of have the ability to determine the outcome of what is going to happen, and I am right in the middle of that," said the unpopular Texan.
