Highbury hope for Heskey

The Gunners' surprise exit from the FA Cup at the hands of Manchester United was swiftly followed by a dramatic loss at home to Chelsea in the Champions League last night.

With the glory of a possible treble now consigned to the past, Heskey believes that Liverpool can land a further blow upon an Arsenal side struggling on the ropes.

Heskey said: "It could be a good time to play them. They've had a couple of bad defeats and so will be feeling a bit down, but at the same time they will probably feel as though they have to prove themselves again now and they could be more dangerous as a result.

"I watched their game with Chelsea last night and I thought they were very good in the first half. They are a strong team and they will always be difficult to beat at home.

"But we will go down there full of optimism because we know we are playing well at the moment. We had a great win over Blackburn last weekend and there's a real confidence in our camp at the moment.

"Obviously we're not happy being so far behind Arsenal in the table and we'll be desperate to show we're not as far away from them as the table suggests. We would like to have kept in touch with them but they've had a great season in the league and you have to give them credit for that. But over the past week they have shown they can be beaten and it would be good for us if we could become the first team to beat them in the league."

Heskey's confidence ahead of the Highbury showdown was also helped greatly by the news that maverick French forward Thierry Henry will be absent from the Arsenal side on Friday.

Heskey added: "He's their man man, without a doubt. He's the best player in the world at the moment and so you have to say we have a better chance of winning if he isn't playing.

"But they're not a one man team. They have quality all over the pitch and we'll have to play as well as we did last week to have a chance of winning the match."
