HKS get stadium gig

HKS saw off competition from Manchester based AFL to build Liverpool's new stadium after HKS' original plans were abandoned because of the rising cost of steel.

The new plans are similar to the old ones with an 18,500 capacity Kop as the main feature, but will be built at a cheaper price. The stadium should be open in time for the 2011/12 season.

"HKS has developed a more efficient design that, at the same time, is just as stunning as its original design. Liverpool supporters should have high expectations for the future: a premier sporting experience at their new stadium at Stanley Park and a winning Club on the pitch for years to come," said Tom Hicks.
