Hobbs' confidence up

Hobbs had a nightmare of a game against Kaiserslauten last Saturday but bounced back three days later when he partnered Sami Hyypia at the heart of the Reds defence against Grasshoppers.

"I'm a lot happier now and a bit relieved to be honest. Saturday was a nightmare. I was very upset afterwards so it was good to get a bit of confidence back," Hobbs told the club's official website.

"The manager just gave me a few pointers to what I should have done and was very supportive. It was really good of him and meant a lot to me. It certainly helped lift my spirits.

"All the players rallied around as well, which was great. Many of them have been through similar experiences. Everyone has been really helpful in getting me back on track.

"I have to look at that performance as part of the huge learning curve. There's no point dwelling on it. You have to show character and bounce back, and I think I've done that against Grasshoppers.

"To be selected again and play the full 90 minutes was a huge boost to my confidence. I was really happy about that and hopefully I can now go on from here."
