Hobbs hoping to impress

Hobbs had an impressive debut season with Liverpool. The 17 year old was a member of the FA Youth Cup winning side and ended the season as captain of the reserves following Jon Welsh's departure to Hull.

Hobbs had played for the first team during pre-season and the former Lincoln defender hopes to continue making good progress this season.

"I'm feeling good again and looking forward to the new season. Last season was a fairly good season for me but being handed the chance to show what I can do in the first team this summer has been a marvelous experience," he said.

"It's been a bit tiring but that's what you expect in pre-season. My fitness is good and, as I say, my confidence is back. Just being here in Switzerland has whetted my appetite to be a regular member of the first team squad and that obviously has to be my main aim in the season ahead.

"It would be nice to play a few competitive games and hopefully if we have a good run in the cup competitions then maybe a few chances will come my way."
