After Mark Hughes' departure to Blackburn the Welsh FA have already earmarked Rush for the vacant post, but they are now also considering a plan to bring in Gerard Houllier to assist him.

Some Welsh FA councillors want the pair to be in charge in time for the World Cup qualifier with England on 9th October.

With Houllier on board, Rush would be able to continue managing Chester City.
