Houllier backs Kewell

Kewell has looked a shadow of his former self since returning from injury but Houllier believes the Australian will rise to the occasion and ensure Liverpool qualify for next season's Champions League.

Houllier stated his belief in Harry Kewell saying: "I think Harry would be the first to admit he has not been at his best. Over the last four games a few of our players have struggled.

"But when you have big games that's when you know your big players will perform and I've got a lot of faith in Harry.

"The injury he suffered around new year definitely knocked him back and you only have to look at the goals he scored before then, compared to how many he has scored since, to see that.

"But he has also been a bit unlucky because he has hit the post more times than anybody. We should also remember that it's his first season at the club and there's still a lot more to come from him."
