The Reds boss firmly believes that his £5m buy will be inspired by the bitter reception he is likely to be given by the fans that once adored his every footstep when he donned the White of Leeds United.

"Harry is strong enough to rise above whatever is aimed at him. I think he's more likely to be inspired by it," insisted Houllier.

"He is improving all the time. At the top level of the game you need a high rate of work and consistency and no-one will doubt he's shown that.

"He has scored goals and made goals. He has settled well and is a very hard trainer. The last thing he is is lazy. On the contrary, he is an extremely hard working player.

"I think the fans from Liverpool will make a point about how they feel about Harry. They will stick up for Harry's cause."

Will we beat Leeds?
