Houllier bidding for fourth finish

The Reds currently stand a disappointing seventh in the Premiership - three points behind fourth-placed Newastle with a game in hand - but Houllier firmly believes his team can secure a passage to the Champios League in the final months of the campaign.

Houllier said: "It is never easy to play against a team who have a new manager in their first game but we've got points to claim back after Southampton beat us 2-1 at Anfield in December.

"We have 12 games to play and our destiny is in our own hands. We want to try and win every game and I can tell you we will do our best.

"We seem to have better results away from home. I don't know why we have had better results away from home as we have struggled at Anfield.

"There is a fine line between winning and losing and a fine line between winning and drawing. There are games we should have won but drew this season and maybe it is just a matter of maturity. Don't forget we have had injuries and it is only since February we have had everybody back."
