Houllier blasts Norwegians

Liverpool boss Gerard Houllier is unhappy with Norwegian boss Nils Johan Semb for playing John Arne Riise for a full 90 minutes on Wednesday.

Houllier claims that Semb went back on his word of not playing top Premiership players in the game for more than 45 minutes.

"I'm not happy with the Norwegians," said the boss. "I went through all the players from the Premiership on international duty and it was only Eirik Bakke, of Leeds, and John Arne Riise who didn't play just one half.

"John played the full 90 minutes. All the other players from Arsenal, Newcastle or Liverpool played 45 minutes.

"I think John has been too nice for his own good on this occasion by playing the whole game.

"It was very unfair to play him a whole game in a friendly. We have 14 games to play in 48 days.

"I will let them know how I feel about this."
