Houllier blasts Spanish gamesmanship

The Spanish side frustrated the Anfield crowd throughout with subtle fouls and the like, and it was something that 'disappointed' Houllier.

Houllier also spoke of his sides inexperience, and inability, to handle the suspect methods employed by Valencia's players

He said: "I felt we showed that we are too young and too inexperienced to handle such things.

"But I don't want my team to try to con referees. I just want to play our game. But you are going to get such things from teams of that quality.

"The number of professional fouls disappointed me, and the amount of substitutions towards the end, and there were only three minutes added. I don't like moaning about referees but we couldn't handle it."
