Houllier confident Owen will stay

Owen has just over a year remaining on his current contract and has begun talks with the club over a new deal; talks that Gerard Houllier believes will lead to Owen remaining with the club.

"We have had preliminary talks and they went well," said Houllier today. "My position is the same as it's been all season. I think Michael will stay with us.
 
"Whether I am proved to be right or wrong only time will tell."
