The Reds eased to a 2-0 win at Anfield with goals from Emile Heskey and Michael Owen. Houllier feels that Liverpool have responded well to defeat at Old Trafford last week.

Houllier said: "It was a well deserved win and we played some great football at times, and it was a very good Liverpool performance.

"We should have finished the game off before we did. Michael and Milan had enough chances to get a hat-trick each and make the scoresheet more than 2-0. If Milan had scored from a wonderful move it would have been one of the best goals in the Premiership scored all season.

"A good team always responds from a defeat and I told the boys I enjoyed their attitude in training this week. They were determined to do well as they showed in today's match.
