Houllier disappointed with lack of goals

"I think both teams lost as bit of their cool and it damaged the atmosphere," he said after the game.

"We didn't play well after that. I was not happy with Hakan Sukur's reaction to Steven Gerrard. I know Igor made a bad tackle but that happens.

"I don't think we played particularly well out there. We had a few chances in the first half. We made a mistake with the second goal but they only had a few chances and scored two goals. In fairness a lot of the players looked a bit drained today.

"We used that as a good workout and to give more match fitness for a few players. I'm pleased with the workrate. I'm just disappointed for the fans that we didn't score more goals, but we know we've got a striking force for that."
