Houllier explains Diao decision

The much-maligned Heskey has scored just once so far this season but Houllier insists that his lack of goals were not the reason why Senegalise international Salif Diao was surprisingly brought back into the fold.

Houllier said: "I explained to Emile why I was taking that option. We caused more problems because Campbell and Toure like to have someone to play up against.

"That's why we went for different options. Against Arsenal, I wanted a different option up front because I wanted to reinforce the midfield."

Did Salif play well?
