Houllier explains Owen precaution

The prolific forward has only recently returned to action after suffering ligament damage in last month's home defeat to Arsenal, leading Houllier to 'take no chances' with his star striker at Loftus Road.

Houllier said: "Michael had only trained for two days and I was very aware that injuries often happen in the last 15 minutes of matches. We had three important games in a week and I didn't want to take any chances with him."
