Gerard Houllier is warning his players and the fans not to expect FC Basle to be crushed when the two sides meet in the Champions League on Wednesday.
"They are not just a little team from Switzerland, Basel are a very good team," said the boss.
"I knew they would beat Spartak Moscow last week. They have four or five very good players, including their attacking trio of Hakan Yakin, Rossi and Gimenez.
"It is a very important game for us."
FC Basel are expected to bring 2,500 supporters to Anfield for the game.
