With Anfield right-backs Markus Babbel and Jon Otsemobor currently loaned to Premiership rivals Blackburn and Bolton respectively, Houllier is keen to show his faith in the £3.5m man.
Houllier said: "Steve was unfortunate with Sofia's first goal last week. Sometimes a player has an offday. You can see that after 25 minutes so you have to react.
"But when it doesn't happen very often, you put him straight back into the team. I will stick with Steve and I'm sure there will be a good reaction from him. You have to remember he was out for two months over Christmas. He will be playing on Thursday, that's for sure."
