Gerrard ensured Liverpool earned a point yesterday with another man of the match display, culminating in his amazing through ball for Michael Owen to score the equalizer.

After once again carrying his team-mates Gerrard received special praise from his manager.

"Stevie was awesome today," said Houllier. "He can do everything and he kept driving the team forward. The impetus he brought to the side was picked up on by the other players and that's what kept us going.

"Stevie was an Academy player, then went on to become a Premiership player and an international player. Now the next step is for him to become a world class player and he's getting there.

"I think over the next year or two he will move into the category of the ten or so players who can say they are world class. He could be the dangerman for France in the summer!"
