The mercurial antipodean midfielder, who arrived at Anfield for a bargain fee of £5m, has claimed eight goals this season to firmly cement his place in the hearts of an adoring Anfield faithful.

While his legion of supporters marvel at the skill and trickery of their latest Kop hero, Gerard Houllier insists that the 25-year-old's healthy work-rate proves equally pleasing on the eye.

Houllier said: "Harry can beat people and score goals, he has scored a second header in two games.

"I like his work and stamina and the fact that he plays for the team, a star player is always a team player first."
