Gerard Houllier has indicated that he is prepared to wait much longer to snap up Lee Bowyer on the cheap, rather than be pushed into paying over the odds for a player who's contract is expiring.

Reports today suggest that the Reds are confident of landing the player some time between now and Christmas. Obviously the longer it goes on, the cheaper he will be.

Kop Talk sources insist that Liverpool are firm favourites to land him with other Premiership clubs not even trying to enter the race because they have been fed the "done deal" line by Bowyer's camp.

There is of course a chance that Liverpool will sign him before the season kicks off if they can negotiate a sensible fee.

Gerard Houllier is in a much stronger position that Leeds and because of that he's continuing with his other negotiations and day-to-day duties in the transfer market.
