Houllier hits out at 'coward' Neill

Bootle-born Carragher is now expected to miss up to six months of the season following the horror challenge from the Australian international and Gerard Houllier could barely contain his disdain for the actions of the former Milwall man.

"I said after the game it was a tackle which could have resulted in a broken leg and sadly that is what has happened," revealed a reflective Houllier.

"To me it was a coward's challenge and the player's reaction was also appalling because he was then complaining about being sent off.

"I am gutted for Jamie. He won't be able to play for another six months, but Neill will be playing again in three matches. I can imagine what Graeme Souness would have been saying about it if one of his players had had their leg broken in a similar way."
