Houllier hoping for more success

Goals from Steven Gerrard and Michael Owen gave the Reds a 2-0 win over bitter rivals Manchester United in the first final of the season. Liverpool, though, cannot afford to rest on their laurels and Houllier insists the team can achieve more in the last weeks of the campaign.

Houllier said: "We've got 10 games to play for. We'll give it our best shot to finish the season as we usually do. In the last two seasons, we've come good at the end".

While Houllier was celebrating his sixth trophy as Liverpool manager, he was quick to acknowledge the steadfast support he has received from his board during a turbulent spell in recent months.

"Some players were under pressure and their manager was supposedly under pressure, but that was not from the board," Houllier said. "I came back from my heart operation almost a year ago and what we have achieved since then is not too bad.

"We finished second last season and have now won a trophy. We're still in the UEFA Cup so let's keep it going."
