The Reds boss believes that Celtic are unlucky not to be involved in the latter stages of the Champions League. They, like Liverpool, fell victim to what Houllier has dubbed the 'Basel syndrome'

Houllier said: "They are a strong, consistent side. A huge club with a huge base of fans as well. They were unlucky not to be in the Champions League this season but they were another victim of the Basel syndrome.

They played extremely well when they played at Blackburn and the three wins they have against Blackburn, Celta Vigo and Stuttgart were impressive."
