"Yes, it is true that I could have been the Celtic manager," he admitted. "It's no secret that I had talks with them just after the World Cup in 1998.
"I was approached by Jock Brown and Fergus McCann but I made another decision in the end. But I don't want to make an issue of it. It is in the past now.
"They are two very big clubs and I chose Liverpool. That's it, and I would say it has worked out well."
