Diouf was today given a two week fine by the club for his involvement in the now infamous spit-spat against Celtic. Despite this fine, though, Houllier feels he must offer the Senegal international his support in these most trying of circumstances.

Houllier said: "I can tell you he will be playing on Sunday. He is very down about what he has happened and he knows he has let himself, the club and the fans down, but he will definitely play at Tottenham.

"The boy is very strong and very determined. He knows he has made a mistake but these things happen. We can't condone what he did but we can support him. He won't do this again, that's for sure."
