Houllier: Kewell is getting stronger

The Australian international has made an indifferent start to his Anfield career and spurned his side's best opening against Aston Villa when he miscued from just 12-yards with an open goal at his mercy.

While the pressure is firmly on the mercurial former Leeds star to lift a side bereft of creativity, his club manager insists that his £5m man will be ready to show his undoubted talent on a more regular basis once he has fully settled in his new surroundings.

Houllier said: "I thought Harry's game got stronger and stronger after the hour. He only trained on Friday and had a light session so I wasn't able to work with him as I would have liked.

"The reason he couldn't train all week was because of his injury. When a new player arrives at the club he always needs time to settle."
