Houllier: Michael won't do a Macca

The Liverpool boss has dismissed speculation linking Owen with a £25m move to Real Madrid and insists he will do a 'Steve McManaman' and walk away on a free transfer when his current contract expires.

"I know he won't do what Steve McManaman did," said Houllier. "I think the fans know he is not like Steve McManaman.

"There is no deadline where we want to sign him by. I'm not thinking about that yet.

"I'm confident that he will sign when the time is right."
