Heskey had his best game for many months on Saturday amid rumours he will be playing for Birmingham this season.

All this papers this weekend have reported the move this weekend and Houllier refused to comment on Heskey's future when questioned on 'The Premiership' on Saturday night.

He said: "I said to the players that in a newspaper there were eight players with a guillotine over them and there has been a guillotine over me all season. I told them that was what they had to deal with.

"We had the get-together and it has improved performances. We were approaching the final sprint and, maybe, we had to address a few problems.

"Emile has now scored two goals in two games and has contributed fantastically to the team. Now is not the time to talk about the future."
