Houllier not feeling the pressure

After failing to guide the Reds to the Champions League last season, Houllier is only too aware that his future at the club will come under severe scrutiny if sufficient improvement is not made in the coming months.

While Houllier's side have shown signs of great encouragement in recent weeks - especially in the new-found attacking style introduced by the Reds boss - the Frenchman came under-fire once again following a bitterly disappointing 3-2 defeat at Charlton.

Houllier said: "Pressure? My thoughts are with those who are at the bottom of the league. Nobody has won the league yet, not in September or October.

"We knew our challengers had won so there was pressure from that. In football you always get criticised.

''Sometimes you get just the performance and sometimes you get just the result, or sometimes you get both, and against Charlton we got the performance but not the result."
