"I had the pleasure of knowing Jim and he was a very gentle, caring man," said Houllier.
"For what he did for Liverpool Football Club, I think it's only fitting that we managed to win the game.
"I would dedicate the victory to Jim. He discovered Steve McManaman and Robbie Fowler and for that this club owes him a debt that can never really be repaid."
