The Czech striker was rewarded for his efforts with his first goal of the season at Leeds and the manager heaped praise on his young striker.

"Milan has been back for just three matches and he has added a freshness to the side," said Houllier. "He has great penetration, he is incisive with great power - a real threat.

"We know what he can do and we will enjoy watching him play for the rest of the season, while encouraging him to take the initiative. He can make things happen and can form a good partnership with Michael.

"He gives Michael more space and more chances. With more luck Michael could have taken the match ball home at Leeds. How they kept his second-half header out I don't know.

"Milan can have a fine end to the season. He goes to the Euro 2004 finals with the Czechs. and if they get through their group stage they will be a real danger.

"He is their key man, back on form and fit."
