"Maybe we had more chances than they had,2 said the Liverpool boss after the game. "The winner today was football. It was thrilling right to the end and it was extremely entertaining.

"I enjoyed watching my team and Leeds play well aswell. If it was a boxing match we would have won on points - we looked like the home side at times.

"Credit to Leeds because they gave us a good encounter.

"We were all disappoinited last Sunday when we were knocked out of the cup but that is in the past now.

"I was very proud of my players' performance, they can be proud of each other and let's kreep going because if we keep playing like that we'll be there right at the end.

"The unity about the team is really good - you could see that against Sofia and you could see it again today."
