The Liverpool boss has admitted that he will do all he can in the fight to kick racism out of football, even if it means losing his job.

"I always said one day I would do something that could get me banned.

"I would be prepared to take my players off," he said. "Racism is a real problem in football. I remember one game I watched in particular, when the England under-21 players were playing Barcelona."

Emile Heskey was once again the subject of racist chants at England's game with Macedonia on Saturday.

"Emile Heskey was playing centre forward and he got alot of abuse and he had to draw on nerves of steel to keep his head down and not answer back," added Houllier.

"It will take something spectacular, and I mean something drastic, to end this situation, so I will get my team out of there if necessary.

"Maybe it will get me the sack but I don't mind that risk."
