Houllier reaches new low

The under-fire Frenchman has revealed his concern for team morale following the controversial loss in France as the Reds seek to maintain their Champions League hopes at Leicester City.

Houllier said: "This is the lowest point of the season so far. We had prepared well for Marseille and the players were clearly up for it. In fact they were magnificent but one decision changed the course of the tie.

"My concern now is for the players morale, because you could see our gameplan was working perfectly. The players still cannot accept they have lost the game, but we cannot afford to feel sorry for ourselves now. We just have to get a result at Leicester.

"We have been very unlucky this season but now we have nine games to get into the Champions League. There is no point moaning or feeling sorry for ourselves. We have suffered with injuries, refereeing decisions and constant adversity, but I like the way we have reacted."
