Roman Abramovich's Blues, along with Manchester United, have financial strength far beyond that of the Reds, Arsenal and Newcastle, but Houllier remains unconcerned by the rivals to his Premiership dream.

"Their new wealth will change the face of the premiership at some stage," Conceded Houllier to a packed press conference in Thailand. "But we have other values in our team, we have young talent."

"When we played last year against Chelsea for instance, the average age of the team was 24-25 whereas Chelsea's was 29. We have a bit of youth ahead of us, which will be of great benefit to the team."
