Gerard Houllier today snapped back at the media for asking questions about the status of the Nicolas Anelka affair following suggestions that the club are delaying things to their own advantage.

PSG and the player himself claim they are waiting for Liverpool to tie things up yet the Reds recently suggested that they were waiting for the Anelka camp to contact them.

Houllier is certainly fully in control with this one and only when he's ready, and not before, will he proceed with the Anelka business.

"It doesn't surprise me that you want to know about players," said the boss.

"It will be Anelka now, then Kanoute and there's even a story about Lee Bowyer today.

"I've told the boys not to be surprised to see these sort of stories appearing before big games. It didn't surprise me to see we were linked with Kanoute before the Blackburn game.

"I am not going to answer any questions about transfers before this game. All of my energy is totally focused on the game against Ipswich. On Monday we can discuss other things, when the season is over."
