Houllier shows his sarcastic side

Basle initially requested that Liverpool kick off at 5pm tonight, the same time as they travelled to Spartak, to take away any advantage Liverpool may have through knowing the score of their match.

But the Moscow siege resulted in a one week postponement of Basle's clash in the Russian capital, with Christian Gross' side now asking for the match to be played in a neutral venue.

But Houllier is convinced that the Swiss side are looking to gain an unfair advantage in a tight group, and showed his sarcastic side by suggesting they would now apply for a Swiss referee!

He said: They did not complain when they knew the result of our game in Moscow before they faced Valencia last week - so why should they seek to change the kick-off at Anfield?

"What has happened since puts everything into perspective and it had to be postponed.

"But now they are asking for it to be played on a neutral ground after what happened in Moscow. What do they want next? A Swiss referee?"
