Liverpool boss Gerard Houllier took full control of today's training session at Melwood in the build-up to Wednesday's game against Barcelona.

Taking it easy but back

Confirming the news, Phil Thompson told the official LFC website: "The players were delighted to see him back on the training pitch and I know he was delighted to be working with them again.

"Gerard's been easing his way back just lately and today was a massive boost for everyone concerned with Liverpool Football Club. Gerard's been putting in a few hours in his office but to see him out on the training pitch was brilliant - it shows just how near he is to making a complete recovery."

Despite taking charge of today's session at Melwood, Ged won't be flying to Spain with the rest of the squad for Wednesday's game.
