Houllier: Title bid is not over

The draw with Everton means Liverpool are now seven points adrift of leaders Arsenal. Houllier, though, believes this deficit can still be overturned.

He said:"We can't afford to lose too many points now. I am aware of that.

"Going seven games in the league without a win is a disappointment because we had a good start. In some games we have been unlucky.

"The main satisfaction for me is that through a difficult period I can sense the mental strength of the team. I believe we have turned the corner.

"We desperately needed a positive result against Everton and we got it against a team on a high at the moment.

"We stood up to the physical challenge. We can play better football and we will play better football."
